Rostov Museum of Contemporary Fine Arts was opened in 2005 in a former mansion of the merchant Yablokov. House built in 1898 in Art Nouveau style. The museum is the only place in town where artists can make presentations of their work without paying the rent. The museum also provides education, collecting and research works. The museum focuses on the formation of collections of contemporary art created in Russia and their popularization. Museum's collection includes about 1,800 items, including works of drawing, painting and arts and crafts. Also at the museum are an archive library, the expert group and workshop for the restoration works.
