                  There are other names of the mosque : " Vagap mosque ", " Vahhabiya " , "Kazan mosque ." Today it is also called "Central ", " cathedral ", " Hazra Mosque " " Red " (or " Kyzyl- mosque" ) . Its beauty is equal to the mosques in Kazan (hence one of the names - "Kazan " ) . The characteristic elements of the architecture of the Central Mosque is a basic compound of the temple with the vertical minaret above the main entrance . In Soviet times, the mosque was one of the two existing in Astrakhan. However, in 1941 it was closed to the transfer of the premises under a trade school . However, in 1950 , the mosque was returned to believers . Today it is the residence of the mufti of the Astrakhan region , Astrakhan head of regional management Muslims.
