                  Botanical Garden, Southern Federal University is located in the northwestern part of the Rostov-on-Don, the river valley Temernik. Is the first botanical garden in the vast territory treeless zone of the south of Russia. In the garden is a mineral spring, bearing the name of St. Seraphim of Sarov Orthodox and revered as holy. Botanical Gardens appeared in 1927. Initiators of its creation became professor of Rostov State University and V.F.Hmelevsky V.N.Vershkovsky, although the prerequisites for its occurrence appeared in 1915. In greenhouses and garden outdoors grows more than 5,000 species of trees, shrubs and herbaceous plants, including greenhouse tropical and subtropical plants in the collection of the flora of Africa, Southeast Asia, North and South America, Australia, collected nearly 1,600 species of plants.
