                  The first stone synagogue in Grodno was built in 1575-1580 years. Italian architect Santi Gucci, but as the following, burned. The current building of the Great Choral Synagogue was built in Ilya Frunkinym of 1902-1905. in a form of eclecticism - Moorish style. During the German occupation of Grodno Synagogue, located in the heart of the Jewish ghetto, the Nazis used the Jews as a gathering place before being sent to concentration camps and executions. Rich interior decoration of the building during the Great Patriotic War, was severely damaged. In the Soviet period (1944-1991 gg.) The building was used as a warehouse. Since 1991, the building returned to the Jewish religious community. Currently under restoration of facades and interior decoration of the synagogue.
