                  The park was laid near the left bank of the Teterev River. The territory of this park belonged to the barons of De Chaudoir before the arrival of the Bolsheviks. They were one of the wealthiest landowners in Volhynia. Therefore, in this area, rare species of trees and booths were grown. All these works were carried out by the gardener of Baron De Chaudoir. For today the park bears the name of the first cosmonaut, - Yuri Gagarin. Recently, Sergei Feshchenko, a Zhytomyr journalist, initiated the collection of signatures for the renaming of the Park of Culture and Rest. Gagarin in Shodurovsky Park. Here are his arguments: "This park has a direct relation to the personality of Baron Ivan Maximilianovich Shoduar, who founded this park." Historical and human justice must triumph and Zhytomyr should pay a decent tribute to the man who founded this park, which we all use. " In any case, today the name of the park is firmly entrenched behind it and the inhabitants of Zhytomyr region will call the park "Gagarin Park" for a long time.
