The theater is located in a historic building. Originally it was the "Catholic House", built in 1911 behind the church of St. Anne by architects I. Kendzersky and A. Opolsky. In the interwar period, the Small City Theater functioned here for some time, where chamber pieces were staged. After the war, a musical comedy theater operated here. But in a few years Lviv lost its operetta. Lviv Lesya Ukrainka Drama Theater was founded in 2008. The theater primarily explores the work of Lesya Ukrainka, working every year on her new play. In addition, the theater interprets classical works through the eyes of modernity and often turns to the works of young playwrights.
