Ternopil Regional Museum of Local Lore was founded in 1913. The structure of the museum has 7 departments: three exposition departments (nature, ancient history and modern and contemporary history), as well as departments of funds, scientific and methodological work, scientific and educational work and art and restoration. The museum has more than 256 thousand exhibits. Especially large are collections of Ukrainian folk clothing from different regions of Ternopil, fine and decorative arts, numismatics, philately, documents and photographs, household items. Unique significance among the exhibits of the Ternopil Museum of Local Lore are: archaeological artifacts (about 40 thousand units), 312 weapons, a valuable collection of icons XVII - beg. XIX centuries, old prints of Pochaiv Lavra of XVII-XVIII centuries, samples of Ukrainian national costumes from different regions of Ternopil region, carpets from window weaving workshops of XIX century, gold weaving from Buchach manufactories, Western European art of XVII - beg. XIX century The permanent exposition of the museum covers about 12 thousand units of storage. The museum annually organizes exhibitions from its funds. Traditionally, these are Christmas and Easter exhibitions, antique art, sacred art, antiques and more. Among the most numerous are personal exhibitions of contemporary artists.
