In 1835 construction began on the cathedral on the site of an old church that burned down. In 30-ies of the cathedral through the difficult times: removed from church bells to the needs of industrialization, and in 1937. the temple was closed altogether. After that, the church has long been used as a warehouse and later as an archive room. In 1990, the Nativity of the Virgin once again opened its doors to believers. Today, the church has retained its original form and is the oldest existing structures Khmelnitsky.
