In fact, the Zhytomyr Academic Ukrainian Music and Drama Theater was founded and began its work on January 8, 1944, and as the newspaper "Soviet Zhytomyr Region" reported: "Today the city theater begins its theatrical season with the play" Natalka Poltavka ". It was the birthday of the current staff of the Zhytomyr Theater named after Ivan Kocherga. Today Zhytomyr Academic Music and Drama Theater named after I. Kocherga lives a bright and full life, aiming at the revival and popularization of theatrical art, interest of a wide audience and education of the real theatrical elite of the city and region. Recently, the theater's repertoire has been replenished with new bright performances and concert programs. Theater directors pay considerable attention to children's repertoire.
