In Ukraine, only three of the necropolis, with museum status: Lychakiv in Lviv, a cemetery on the street Zelenichi in Chernovtsy and Lukyanovka in Kiev. Luk’ianivs'ke civilian cemetery is one of the oldest necropolis of Kiev, opened in 1878. Until the early 1960's it was operating, and then it managed to protect due to the large number of buried cultural figures and the ensuing thaw. Possibly saved Lukyanovka cemetery that was not the nobility, and Raznochinnaya-intellectual: buried here, for the most part, professors and doctors, military officers of lower ranks and at all ordinary Kiev educated public. Only a short list of those who rest here, makes clear why this is a cemetery - a memorial. List is impressive: physicians N. Strazhesko, A. Lurie, B. Chagovets, F. Janowski, mathematics D. Grawe and G. Pfeifer, Botany N. Cold and Fomin, a physicist, the Demetts, architects AP Aleshin, and H. Kobelev, a historian and archaeologist I. Morgilevsky, composers V. Pukhal'skii, K. Shipovich, actress L. Gakkebush, artists B. Orel, N. Pimonenko, Murashko, N. Svetlitsky, F. Krichevsky, A. Bogomazov. Sculptured monuments and crypts cemeteries, surprisingly, not bad survived. There are monuments to the work of sculptors and S. I. Kavaleridze Konenkova, crypts Attribution-known architects of Kiev Nikolaev, E. Bradtmana, A. Haecker. More than two thousands of graves and headstones Lukyanovka cemeteries are included in the Code of monuments of Kiev, 227 of them have the status of historical and cultural heritage. When the administration Lukyanovka cemetery has a museum room, telling stories about the cemetery and its famous "Dwellers".
