                  Pokrovsky Monastery was founded January 11, 1889 Grand Duchess Alexandra Petrovna. Home building - the Cathedral of St. Nicholas (1911), designed by architect. Nikolaev, using traditional forms of Old Rus architecture. When the monastery was founded many charitable institutions - free hospital, shelter, clinic and pharmacy, Parish School of campus for students. In 1925 the monastery was closed. Again it opened in 1942 after liberation of Kyiv on the territory of the monastery on their own organized hospital. A monastery is not closed, but reduced the area so that the number of cases dropped from 30 to 7. After a fire in 1981, was painted Nikolsky Cathedral. Only recently returned to the monastery of its former territory. After major repairs and painted opened (in 1999) Protection Church.
