                  For the design of the building invited Kiev architect V.N. Nikolaev. In 1878 the building was erected. And in 1880 its owner, M. Chaplinska, sold a plot of land with houses and other buildings in the yard kolezkomu Advisor F.A. Tereshchenko. In 1882-1884 was performed reconstruction of the building by the architect A.L. Guna. Tereshchenko moved into their mansion. Family Tereshchenko left Kyiv in 1918, the mansion during the revolution and civil war was used by various organizations and institutions. Museum of Russian Art was opened November 12, 1922 as the Kiev Art Gallery. The fund was based on museum collections of Kyiv Manufacturers Nicholas, John, Theodore Tereschenkos. Primary exposure was about 200 works now - housed more than 30 rooms.
