                  The building of the synagogue built in 1898 has provided money for building the famous Kyiv millionaire and philanthropist Lazar Brodsky. Per order engineer George Schleifer drafted synagogue building in Moorish style. Work performed best in construction company Lev Ginzburg. In 1926 the synagogue was confiscated by the Soviets - it turned first to club amateurs, and later in a puppet show. During the occupation in World War II, the building was used by the Army stables for horses. In 1997, a puppet show moved to a new building in 2000 and was renewed opening of the Central Synagogue in Kyiv.
