Chernihiv Literary-Memorial Museum-Reserve of the famous Ukrainian writer Mykhailo Kotsyubinskogo (1864-1913) was formed in 1934. The founder of the museum was the younger brother of writer Thomas Kotsyubynsky (1870-1956). During World War II museum exhibits were evacuated to the rear of the country in Ufa. After the liberation of Chernihiv Museum resumed work. After the death of the first director of the museum more than twenty years of museum headed younger daughter Irene Kotsiubinska writer.
