In 1932, in the town of Malyn, Zhytomyr Oblast, a mobile workers' and collective farm theater based on a group of actors from the 3rd workshop of the Berezil Art Association presented a play based on Myroslav Irchan's anti-war play The Brush Family. This was the beginning of the newly created by the government decree theater, which, traveling from village to village, inspired by the romance of acting and sincere sparkle in the eyes of grateful spectators in 1933 came to the Shevchenko region. Tourists began working in Cherkasy, in 1939 the Cherkasy Theater was named after the great poet Taras Shevchenko, and the group became stationary only after the Great Patriotic War in 1954. In 1963, the theater became known as the Shevchenko Regional State Ukrainian Music and Drama Theater. After the Great Patriotic War, it was finally decided to build a building of the Regional Theater on the site of the synagogue, which lasted until the mid-1930s. Although the theater building was built within the Soviet canon: a kind of multifunctional building for party meetings and conferences with a stage, the Cherkasy Regional Theater was the first theater in Ukraine built with the latest achievements of stage equipment. For the first time in Ukraine, the most mobile stage was mounted here, the mechanisms of which allow to move scenery weighing up to 14 tons. In addition, the latest lighting devices and stereo sound systems were used for the first time.
