                  Kharkiv Zoo - a state zoological park in Kharkov. The oldest in Ukraine, the third-oldest in the Russian Empire, the twentieth in the world. It was opened in 1896, to the public in 1903. Located in Mountainous area in the garden of Shevchenko. History of the zoo starts with the 90-ies of the XIX century, when at the initiative of Professor Alexander Fedorovich Brandt in an attempt to organize an "aquarium". Today - is a popular place for families of townspeople and visitors alike.
