                  Assumption Cathedral was built in 1646 and was originally made of wood, and in 1685 was rebuilt in stone. In 1773 the temple was burned during the great fire. In the modern form of the Assumption Cathedral with a bell tower - a monument of national importance was built in 1821-1844 years the means of the clergy and Kharkov in honor of the victory in the war of 1812. As the Cathedral of the Diocese of Kharkiv Russian Orthodox Church acted to 1930, then was closed and in it were different government offices, warehouses. In 80 years of the twentieth century has been thoroughly renovated and became the primary form. Since 1984, the building housed the temple House of Organ and Chamber Music of the Kharkov regional philharmonic with two concert halls. In 2009 decided to return to church this church.
