Бродівський замок, вали i бастiони з казематами

First information about the building of the castle in city Brody belongs to the 80th years of the 16th c. The Brody castle was built in 1630-1635 in order of Stanislav Konetspolskyi, on the project of the French engineer de Boplan. An entrance of the castle was through a balance-bridge and a ravelin from the side of city. There were 75 casemates, also hexahedral (in the places of joining of bastions), they were used as barracks and storages. A commandant lived in a wooden house on territory of the castle. The castle and fortress survived the attack of cossacks of B. Khmelnytskyi in 1648. In 1812 in order of the Austrian government Vincent Pototskyi took apart fortifications from the side of city (the ravelin, the tower with a clock, two bastions from the side of city were destroyed, a ditch was covered). In a post-war period military unit was placed in the castle, and at this time the castle suffered strongly from alterations. In 2007 on initiative of museum and district organs of power the work of renewal of monument begun, and works on cleaning up of castle casemates and creation of display are conducting now.
