                  Once there were four gates in Zhovkva - Lvivs'ka, Zhidivs'ka, Hlyns'ka and Zvyrinets'ka. First two were taken apart in order of Austrian power at the end of 18 century. The Zvyrinets'ka gate got the name from a menagerie, founded near-by the castle by Zholkevs'ki. The Hlyns'ka gate, once Krakivs'ka, was built at the end of 16 century. In 1964 the gate was taken apart by soviet troops, because it interfered with passage of military technique. The Hlyns'ka gate was rebuilt in 1990 with the help of old drafts.
