The history of creating botanical garden city of Poltava is rooted in the beginning of XX century. On the territory of about 5.25 ha was established agrobiological station Pedagogical Institute. In 1990 he built a new greenhouse area of 200 m2, which to date there are about 600 species of plants from around the globe. Thanks to the work station staff and faculty of the Department of Botany in 1989, the station was granted the status of the Botanical Garden. Botanical Garden is located in picturesque relief terrain east of the city. The garden has several branches: the arboretum, Department of ornamental plants, floriculture Ukrainian Museum under the open sky, the green class, alpine slides, the department of agricultural and medicinal crops and fruit garden.
