Uniquely landscaped park in Poltava Poltava is the arboretum, which is known as "Poltava city park." Since 1977 he is a monument of landscape architecture and is one of the demonstration parks in Ukraine. Arboretum is located near the suburb Yakovtsy Kiev Poltava region and occupies land area of 124.5 hectares. Area of the park has a rich historical past - it's the Poltava battle field. Later, there grew an oak forest, which was destroyed during the Great Patriotic War, the German invaders. There have been eroded slopes beams, which grew bushes of hawthorn and dog rose. In April 1962 there was founded Poltava arboretum. Planting material for dendrological park Poltava provided "colleagues" from "Trostyantsa", "Sophievka" and "Alexandria". More than 200 species of shrubs and trees. Many plants died and dried, was destroyed during the summer meadows. But the park has survived and now represents a true green miracle of nature. Poltava arboretum is crossed by three beams, which was built four ponds. There are more than 170 species of trees and shrubs, is an arboretum, a lilac grove. Most plants are not natives - here there are different kinds of spruce, arborvitae, juniper, catalpa, oak, ash, walnut.
