Interesting is the cozy building of the current academic puppet theater - a monument of architecture of the XIX century. It belongs to the so-called "exemplary houses", the author of which was a domestic architect A. Ruska. The Puppet Theater in Cherkasy was established in November 1965. Within 5 years, the theater has grown to a significant professional level, forming an effective troupe, developing a repertoire of 7 performances (works by Pierre Gammar, Samuel Marshak, Eugene Schwartz, Gianni Rodari, folk tales), developing a touring tour of Cherkasy, Poltava and Sumy regions. On September 27, 1970, the theater was granted regional status. Since the 1970s, the theater has been housed in its current premises. In October 2006, by order of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism of Ukraine, the theater was granted academic status.
