May 30, 1869 Emperor Olexander II gave permission to open Tauris Theological Seminary, and August 19, 1873 it was opened. After the October Revolution of 1917, the seminary has been closed. During the first 47 years of its existence, the seminary has trained hundreds of priests. The building survived and after the collapse of the Soviet Union was returned to the Church. In 1997, she again revived in the same building as the first Simferopol religious school. According to the decision of the Holy Synod of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church on November 22, 2006, in December the same year the school was reorganized in Tauride Theological Seminary.
