Свірзький замок
Свірзький замок
The Svirz'kyi castle belongs to bright works of defensive architecture of Galichina school of architecture. The castle is located on the high isolated hill. The steep slopes complemented from the south by a deep and wide ditch covered accesses to it reliably. Mentions about it are in the archived documents of 1530, when it belonged to the noble family of Svirz'ky. Date "1530" above a main court portal testifies to time of one of alterations of building. In the Ukraine-Poland war-time in 1648-1654 the castle was taken by cossack detachments often, and in 1648 Tatars burned it. But already in 1672, during the hike of turks on Lviv, it survived the Turkish siege. During the second hike of turks the Svirz'kyi castle stood on end again. In a courtyard it is possible to see a large well from that water was taken during a siege. According to ancient legend, in this well a girl was sunk because of her treason. Her ghost lives in the castle until now. Only the walls of understories of primary castle building are preserved now. In the process of numerous reconstructions, planning of rooms of castle was changed, other apartments were reconstructed. During restoration 1975-1983 white-rock portals were recovered in passage of central tower, stone stairs and borders were shifted, ceilings of the apartments of economic court were transferred.
