                  Turkish fort at the narrowest part of the Kerch Strait in the north-eastern part of town. Title in Turkish language means the New Fortress. Accommodating up to 12 thousand soldiers, of the fortress which has controlled the passage of ships between the Azov and Black Seas, and also served as the residence of the Turkish pasha. Was built in several tiers, the walls and strong bastions on three sides surrounded by a moat. For water supply use ceramic underground water from the source a few kilometers. In 1771 the fort was surrendered without a fight Russian forces.
