                  Місто-фортеця Тустань
Tustan is the Old Russian defensive complex, custom and town-fortress, bits and pieces of that are in the mountains of Carpathians. In І 1000 B.C. on the rocky group Kamin there was a heathen temple of ancient tribes that lived in this region in the epoch of bronze. On the rock Kamin scientists found 270 petrohlyphs. Among them there were many signs-symbols of pre-christian god - the Sun. Since the second half of 9 c. till the middle of 13 c. on rocks there was the mighty wooden castle Tustan, built by tribal gentlefolks of White Croats. Central part of fortifications (3 ha) took place on a rocky group (height 40 m). Tustan was an important strategic point, it was included in the single system of Carpathian resistance line of south-west borders of Kyiv Rus, and later of Galichina-Volhynia principality. In 1241 Tustan was destroyed by Tatars during the invasion of Batyi. Later the fortress Tustan was mentioned in the chronicle of Krakiv historian Jan Dluhosh and chronicle Yanko from Charnkiv. In the document of Pope Boniphatius IX (1390) Tustan was mentioned as a border-line fortress, through that the salt obtained in Drohobych and its outskirts, was exported to Zakarpattya and Hungary. Last writing mention about Tustan as a custom point is dated 1565. Since 18 c. ruins of fortress Tustan travellers and tourists began to visit. For them the locals of neighbouring settlements created different recitals and legends of history of fortress and its decline. On the rocky group Kamin about 4000 slots and kerfs, done in a rock, are preserved. On the north side of large wing of Uryts'ky rocks archaeologists found the kilogram of tips of arrows for bows and arbalests. In addition to it, bits and pieces of single burial places, burial vaults, caves, stairs, subrocky corridors, the well and two cisterns for water, were found out. The pitch structure of rock building, surface defensive walls (height 15 m), five-storeyed housing estate of 13 c. with the height of floors 3,5-4 m, difficult water system (the well, which was hollowed out in the rock, and also two cisterns) testify to the high level of the Old Russian building technique. In v. Urych the museum of history of Tustan is located also.
