                  Defensive line, created by Hungarian troops in the Eastern Carpathians in 1943 - 1944 years against the advancing Red Army and stretches almost 600 kilometers. Arpad line was not continuous and consisted of separate units of defense. Extreme elements: Dukla Pass in the west and Yablunitsky Pass in the east. Task was to build an effective line of defense at minimum cost in the shortest possible time. Defense on the line of Arpad in the East Carpathian military operation led army group gene. Heynritsi in the German 1 st Panzer Army and the 13th Infantry Division 1 st of the Hungarian army which confronted the troops of the First and Fourth Ukrainian fronts. On the defensive line only in the Fourth Ukrainian Front, was built 99 base stations, 759 bunkers, 394 bunker, 439 outdoor shooting range, 400 miles of trenches and rifle trenches, 135 miles anti-tank installations.
