There is evidence that in 1417 the village Mitko was sold by Schiretski Voight Ivan Nisholek to Stanislav Korytko. Act of sale was confirmed by King Vladislav Jagiello. For some time the village was owned by Jan Dzedushitsky, who in 1528 sold it to hetman Jan Tarnovsky. Later the son of Jan, Nicholas Dzedushitsky bought Pustomyty. In 1626 the village was devastated by Tatars. On the eve of the national liberation war in 1648-1654 the owner of the village was Alexander Dzedushitsky. In 1772, after the first partition of Poland Pustomyty, like all of Galicia, were joined to Austria-Hungary. Since ancient times in Pustomyty there was a source of mineral sulphurous water. German traveler Gaket in 1791-1795 wrote that the local water in its composition does not differ from Lublin water. At the end of 1879 mineral water springs became interested in the new owner of Pustomyty Longin Dunka. On his initiative, Dr. Vonsovich made a chemical analysis of water, according to which in 1880 the permission to open a sanatorium was received. In the years 1880-1914 Pustomyty had been a famous resort. The presence in Pustomyty and around it of reserves of limestone led to the lime factories. Development of lime production was bound with the construction of the railway Lviv-Stryi which passed through Pustomyty. On September 21, 1939 the city was occupied by Soviet troops.
