Title: City Kamyanka-Buz'ka Status: The city of regional significance in the Lviv region, the administrative center of Kamyanka-Buz'ka distrct. Location: The city is located 43 kilometers to the northeast of Lviv, on the rivers Western Bug and Kamyanka. Area: 8.63 sq. km Population: 11,500 inhabitants. Rivers: Western Bug and Kamyanka. The first mention in historical documents: 1411, city status was obtained in 1471. Historical note: Archaeological finds indicate that the area near Kamyanka-Buz'ka was inhabited in the Bronze Age (3-2 millennium BC.) There are two hypotheses, which researchers attribute the origin of the name "Kamyanka". Some believe that the name is bound with the Kamyanka River, which crosses the city from north to south, while others - with small boulders brought by glaciers from Scandinavia. In the late 15 c. Kamyanka-Strumilova (old name of city) was a center of commerce and crafts. Through the city the trade routes from Kyiv to Poland and Volhynia to Lviv ran. Twice a year the fairs were held here, each week there were biddings. In the city shops of furriers, blacksmiths, cobblers, potters, metalworkers, swordsmen were. Tatar raids in the late 15 - early 16 cc. destroyed the city. It lost its long-standing franchise, but on April 8, 1509 King Sigismund I reiterated the city's law of Kamyanka. In the 16-17 cc. main gainful employment of residents of this area the sale of cattle abroad was. In 1636 peasants of Kamyanka-Strumilova Starostvo refused to serve corvee. Particularly acute struggle against social and national oppression turned into years of war of B. Khmelnytsky in 1648-1654, when the city was destroyed and the people were robbed. In 18 c. the city was gradually becoming a center of handicraft production. In it furrier, cobbler, weaver, smith-bench, pottery, woodwork and turning shops worked and shop of fishermen also. In 1880, the population of Kamyanka-Strumilova numbered 6,107 persons. In the city a brick factory, a distillery, a steam mill and sawmill, which produced flooring, resin and charcoal, operated.
