                  Title: City Dobromyl'. Status: The city of district level in Staryi Sambir district of Lviv region. Location: The city is situated on the banks of the river Vyrva, 22 km from the district center and 110 km from Lviv. Area: 4.97 sq. km. Population: about 6,000 inhabitants. River: Vyrva. The first mention in historical documents: 1374. Historical background: The first settlement Dobromyl' was mentioned in chronicles in 1374, when the Opole (Silesia) Prince Vlad Opolchik handed to family of Gerburts ownership along rivers Vyrva and Strvyazh, among them Dobromyl' was. In the records preserved in Dobromyl' church, there was a story that the first village in the place of the city was founded in 12 century by Vysh, courtier of Peremyshl Prince, after whom the village was named Vyshyna, but it was later renamed Guchok. This name exists to this day as the name of part of Dobromyl'. About 1450 the Lviv huntsman Nick Gerburt began construction of a wooden castle, whose ruins on the Slypa Hora still remain. In 1497 Dobromyl' was ravaged by the Tatars. Most of the buildings were destroyed, the castle on the Slypa Hora burned out too. In the same year, at the request of the owner of the village Andrew Gerburt, King John I Olbraht provided residents with a range of benefits to revive trade and crafts, and allowed them to conduct fair. In 1566 King Sigismund II Augustus provided city status and the Magdeburg Rights to Dobromyl'. In 1611, Jan Schasny Gerburt founded in Dobromyl' printing house, where he printed both his works and works of other contemporary figures. In 1622, Dobromyl' came into the possession of Konetspols'ki, and in 1722 it became a part of the Austrian Empire. In 1871 near the town the railway was built. In the city industry began to develop. In 1876 Dobromyl' became a district town and was this one after being passed under the rule of Poland. After the accession of Western Ukraine to the Soviet Union Dobromyl' became a district center of Dobromyl' district in Lviv region, and has lost the status of the regional center only on Dec. 30, 1962. In 2001 the city was included in the register of historic settlements of Ukraine. Main attractions: the St. Onuphrius monastery, the Preobrazhens'kyi Catholic Church, City Hall.
