                  The geographical center of Ukraine was first identified in 1989, Doctor of Geographical Sciences A. Shevchenko. He concluded that the center of Ukraine is the point with geographic coordinates 48 * 21 "north latitude and 31 * 10 'east longitude. This point is located on the outskirts of Dobrovelichkovka, near Cossack spring. Decision of the district council in 1991, was a granite memorial sign. However, in 2005 as a result of new studies have found that the center is located near the Ukrainian city Shpola in Cherkasy.
