On December 15 (28), 1913, an important event took place in the cultural life of Mykolayiv - the city natural history museum was opened. The basis of his collection was a unique natural collection of EP French, donated to the city by his heirs. It featured samples of minerals, stuffed birds, fish, animals, corals, sponges, herbariums of tropical plants and many other interesting things. The museum now has five departments. Employees of the research and exposition department study the natural features, the ecological situation of our region and its history from ancient times to the present. Our scientists collect new museum objects, attribute exhibits, participate in the scientific life of the region and the country. Their responsibilities also include the creation of exhibitions, the maintenance of a permanent exhibition, the development and conduct of tours and lectures.
