Title: Chornukhy village Status: Center of the Chornukhy village community of the Lubny district of the Poltava region Location: Located on the left bank of the river Mnoga in the 190 km. in the north-west of Poltava. Population: 3000 thousand people Area: 6.90 square meters. km. Waterways: River Mnoga Founded: 1261 Historical note: The first mention dates back to 1261 year. There is speculation that Chornukhy were founded in the times of Kievan Rus, as a fortress to protect against Pechenegs and polovtsev, but in the late 13 th century fortress was destroyed by the Mongols. Further mention of the town common in 1641. In the inventory book 1647 Chornukhy appear among the possessions of Prince Vyshnevetskyi. In 1648 Chornukhy steel centesimal village Lubny Regiment. In 1786 Catherine II gave Chornukhy an everlasting possession count Bezborod'ko. Villagers were participants in the Second World War, the revolutionary events. During the civil war, the villagers were in different political camps, and were engaged in a bitter armed struggle. In 1923 Chornukhy become the regional center of Lubny District. Exactly 2 years - the period from 17 September 1941 to September 17, 1943 Chornukhy were under German occupation. 227 residents were taken to forced labor in Germany.
