Пам'ятник архітектури "Корсунський монастир"
Village Korsunka Novokakhovsky its name to the city council is obliged to the Old Believers monastery, founded in 1784 by Archimandrite Dositheus at the behest of Prince Potemkin. Tavria end of the XVIII century became a kind of "promised land" for the Russian Old Believers, persecuted at home for the disagreement with the official orthodoxy. The monastery soon turned into a real spiritual center of the Old Believers or drevnepravoslaviya. In 1784-1803, he was elevated to the monastery church of the Virgin of Korsun. Nearby is a three-tiered bell tower height exceeds 74 meters. Just north of the cathedral there is a refectory with the Church of St. Michael, Bishop Sinadskogo (1804), and to the east - the Church of St. Demetrius (1797 - 1802 years). Later, in 1854, the bishop's house was built with Nicholas Church. Since 1845 the monastery began to take Korsun and Orthodox monks, but in the II century polovineXIX became extremely orthodox monastery. In Soviet times, the fate of the monastery, as well as most sacred Tavria, was tragic. In 1930 it was closed and handed over to state farm. In the years 1955-1959 was analyzed a number of monastery buildings: the cathedral, bell tower, bishop's house, two hotels for the monastery walls, causing irreparable damage to the architectural ensemble. From the monastery complex has survived only 8 buildings. Of these the most interesting refectory, Demetrius Church, a fence with towers and gates.
