Chernihiv Regional Philharmonic was established in 1944. From the beginning of its existence, the Philharmonic was located on the territory of the former Yelets Monastery. The stationary room with a hall for 612 places the philharmonic society received in 1964 is a former house of the Nikolaev Diocesan Brotherhood. Throughout the existence of the Philharmonic, the structure of the creative staff was constantly changing, but the following areas of work remained unchanged: classical music, folklore, pop genre, lecture work, programs for children. In 2000, the regional philharmonic was reorganized into the regional philharmonic center of festivals and concert programs. The purpose of the center is to revive the Ukrainian national culture, popularize Ukrainian and world music, promote the best works of symphonic, choral, instrumental, vocal, folk, wind and other musical genres, moral and aesthetic education of the younger generation and youth on national and universal values. musical art, conducting extensive cultural and educational work among the population, as well as the organization of festivals, competitions and other events that improve the spiritual well-being of the audience.
