From 1976 in Chernihiv there was a puppet theater (for a long time without premises). In 1982, a young director, Gennady Kasyanov, appeared in the theater, giving new life to the puppets. On May 1, 1985, they performed in front of the cadets of the Chernihiv Higher Military Aviation School of Pilots. Since then, this date is officially considered the birthday of the Chernihiv Youth Theater. Then the play was given in the hospital, vocational school, library. VG Korolenko, the new theater gained notoriety in the city. In 1996, the theater underwent an important reorganization - the puppet troupe was separated from the dramatic one, which in fact meant the functioning of two theaters in Chernihiv - Molodizhny and Puppet (now Chernihiv Puppet Theater named after OP Dovzhenko). The theater's director, Yuri Kravchuk, who took office in 1989, has long sought a separation that has finally taken place, and the theater has since been officially renamed Molodizhny. In the first years of its existence, the theater often went on tour to other cities in Ukraine, Belarus and Russia; repeatedly traveled to Kiev with "Juvenile Sea", "Lolita", "Twelfth Night", "Orchestra", "Over the abyss in life", "Countess and Jean", participated in theater festivals.
