Name: City Konstantinovka. Status: city of regional significance in the Donetsk region. Location: about 72 km from Donetsk Population: about 91 thousand inhabitants Area: 66.04 km² Waterways: River Crooked Butt (a tributary of the treasury Butt, Seversky Donets basin). Year Established: 1870. Background: In the territory of modern Konstantinovka in 1812 founded the village landlord Nomikosov Santurinovku which originally settled 20 families. In the middle of the XIX century on the landowner's son inherited the land arose Konstantinovka village, named for the owner. In 1869 with the construction of the Kursk-Kharkov-Azov railway near Konstantinovka opened railway station. In 1880 she joined with the Kharkov-Sevastopol railway, which contributed to the development of industrial areas: in the years 1895-1897 there were built glass and chemical factories, in 1899, a mirror factory in 1897 - ceramic, rolling-mill and bottling plants. Konstantinovka village and town-site become a single municipality. In the years of rapid industrialization built Zinc Plant (now - "Ukrtsink"), refractory products plant. On Konstantinovo plants were produced ruby stars of the Moscow Kremlin, the sarcophagus to the Lenin Mausoleum, Moscow Metro stations Marble, crystal fountain for the World Exhibition in New York.
