                  The remains of the fortress walls of the Polish in a picturesque location on the bank of the Dnieper, on the southern outskirts of the city. Built on the orders of the Polish King Wladyslaw IV for the control of the Zaporozhye Cossacks. Twice was taken Zaporozhye troops (in 1910 at the initiative of historian J. Yavornyts'kogo was an obelisk in honor of the capture of the fortress in 1648). Later, Prince Grigory Potemkin. Nearby, a little further north, was laid LOTS (Dnepropetrovsk). The fortress has lost value, and in 1944 was almost completely destroyed by a granite quarry.
