                  The city-fortress was built in a short period of 5 months (beginning construction in 1661r .) designed by Francois Korassini from Avignon ( France ) in the form of regular hexagon (with a width of 400m side) with additional bastions , redoubts and fort. In 1734 - 1750 years palisade was replaced by stone and brick, and arsenal rebuilt. Walls are brick, and the gates - rock. Decree of 1804 , the demolished walls of the fortress was covered with ditches, ramparts took apart to 1870. In our time remained only part of the defensive brick wall at the corner street Novgorodska and Belvederska.For now, the restoration of this part.
