              Domnitsky Christmas-The Virgin Monastery was founded by Ivan Mazepa in 1696. They say the cause of foundation of the monastery became a phenomenon on this site miraculous icon of the Mother of God. The icon appeared on a tree stump which remained entire until 1798 at the altar Paraskevievskoy the monastery church. In the years 1800-1806. due to Count I. Bezborod'ko dying at that time, the monastery cloister has a new life. On the territory was built Cathedral of the Nativity of the Virgin and other structures. Presumably, the author of these buildings in the classical style is well-known architect Giacomo Quarenghi. Also at the convent were the temple in the name of Martyr Paraskeva and the Church of Saints Peter and Paul. During the Soviet period the monastery ensemble suffered for a long time in the monastery there was a prison. Today, the monastery is current.
