                  Yur'eva chapel, also known as a surviving part of the apse and the walls of an ancient fragment of St. Michael's Church, which has not survived to our days. Located on the right bank of the river Oster, on top of the ancient fort. Yurieva bozhnitsa - an outstanding monument of 11 century, is the only known specimen Pereiaslav architectural and construction of school. The temple was built as a church of the princely castle "town in the open" by decree of Vladimir Monomakh in 1098, and in the twelfth century on the orders of Yuri Dolgoruky his decorated frescos. Its name "St. George's bozhnitsa" church was named Yuri Dolgoruky, which at one time belonged to Oster. Osterskaya Michael Church throughout history has repeatedly been destroyed. First, in 1152 she suffered at the hands of Prince Izyaslav, who burned the town. Was re-son Yuri Dolgoruky Vsevolod Yurevich in 1195. After St. George's bozhnitsa was destroyed during the raid the Mongols in 1240. The church was not carried out until the 17 th century. In 1695 the church was restored and even arranged an additional altar of the Holy Trinity in the gallery. In 1753, during a thunderstorm in the temple was struck by lightning, resulting in a burned wooden top, to the same masonry began to collapse as a result of the shift of the hill to the stream. Gradually dismantled stone walls, retaining only the sanctuary (the apse and part of south-east wall). Restoration work by the architect P. Pokryshkina were carried out only in 1907. In the years 1977-80. initiated the preservation and restoration of the remains of frescoes XII century. whose remains are preserved in the interior of the apse. A copy of the fresco "The Eucharist" is stored in the Sophia Sanctuary. Today is St. George's bozhnitsa is in very poor condition. This masterpiece of ancient architecture adrift. Inside the ruins are visible traces of the modern Vandals - trash on the floor and graffiti. Nobody can say how many more years left to live this amazing architectural creations.
