                  One of the famous temples of the hetman capital - Baturin is a Church of the Intercession. This temple was the confessional Hetman Ivan Mazepa. First Pokrovsky cathedral was built in the XVII century. This wooden church burned down during Baturyn tragedy of 1708. New Intercession church has been rebuilt in stone in 1789. The five-domed church was designed in the style of Ukrainian (mazepinskogo) baroque. Next to the church building was built parochial schools. Church of the Intercession in Baturin was completely destroyed by the Bolsheviks in 1936. After years of spiritual silence of the church remembered only in 2000. Revived the temple at the expense of the Ukrainian diaspora. To full recovery of the church took a long 8 years. At the consecration of the church attended by President Viktor Yushchenko. In the present head of state gave the church an icon of the Holy Virgin.
