Rivne Nature Reserve was established by the President of Ukraine dated April 3, 1999 № 356 Square 42,288.7 hectares. The reserve consists of four separate plots in 1984 had the status of protected areas is of national importance: the landscape reserve "Biloozerskyy" (Volodymyretska district), in the general - "Perebrodivskyy" (Dubrovytsia Rokytnivskyi and districts), Botanical - "Crude Pursuit" (Rokytnivskyi district), hydrological - "Somyno" (Sarny district). It is the largest by area and best preserved wetland tracts of Ukraine, are protected. Vegetation in the reserve is dominated by forests and swamps (respectively 48.3% and 48.0%). Among the main forest area is covered with pine forests. Marsh vegetation of the reserve is very peculiar. In its structure is dominated mezotrofni (bridge) marshes, to a lesser extent oligotrophic (HPLC). In the flora of the reserve is found 28 rare species listed in the Red Book of Ukraine. Besides them, there is growing some very rare species that require entry into the Red Book of Ukraine. It is dioecious sedge, tonkokorenevyschna, peat, willow Lappish. Fauna is represented by typical Polesie complex animals. Here live 26 species of mammals, the most numerous group among them rodents. Also common predators - fox, wolf, raccoon dog, weasel, ermine, and others. Special attention deserves the lynx, which occurs at the site fermented. Of the 165 species of birds represented here are dominated by species of tree-shrub complex. Characteristic is the presence of north taiga species - grouse, grouse, occasionally - wood grouse. Crane nesting marshes on the gray, large curlew. Very characteristic is the wood sandpiper woodcock, which in other parts of Polesie rare. On the lakes and White Somyno live swan shypun in deaf coniferous forests bordering the marshes - black stork. Fish ponds in the reserve represented by 15 species. In Lake White live eel, catfish and other species typical of Polesie.
