Opuksky Nature Reserve was established by the President of Ukraine from May 12, 1998 № 459. Reserve area is 1592.3 ha, of which 62 hectares - a Black Sea islands Rocks-ships. Nature reserve designed to preserve the natural state of typical steppe landscapes of the Crimean peninsula and akvakompleksiv Black Sea. Opuk Gore - one of the highest peaks of the Kerch Peninsula (185 m). It is the ultimate culmination lowland Parpachskoho strands and is on the Black Sea coast near Uzunlarskoe lake. Made up this mountain Meotic reef limestone. To the south at a distance of 4 km away, in the coastal sea of islands located 7 and 12 m tall. It rocks Ships (Elken-Kaya). They formed the same reef limestone as the mountain Opuk. Flora Opuksky reserve are 395 species of vascular plants. Among them machok yellow Smilka Syreyschykova, sheet peony, violet white, kale mitridatskyy, gorse Scythian, morkovnytsya coastal, thyme nespravzhnohranitnyy, asfodelina yellow, piznotsvit Ankara, tulips and dvokvitkovyy Shrenka, shternberhiya piznotsvita, coastal chill, saffron Crimean, anakamptys pyramidal and seven species of grass. Rare fauna includes 32 species. These crustaceans: crabs and hairy grass, bugs - liksus katranovyy, Butterflies - Swallowtail, podaliriy, zehrys evfema, Aurora White, Soto kroatskyy, Hymenoptera - dolerus steppe. Gore Opuk with Uzunlarskoe lake is nesting and wintering of many species of rare and endangered birds. This cormorant nosy, Ogar (red duck), Balaban (Falcon bee-eater), peregrine falcon, kestrel steppe, steppe crane, bustard, hohitva, Lejeune, zuyok sea and others. In the Black Sea species listed in Red Data Book of Ukraine, there are: Black Sea hippocampus, piskarka gray gurnard, Beluga Black Sea.
