                  Reserve Poleski was established in 1968 in Ovruch and Olevskii districts of Zhytomyr region for the conservation, study of the natural biological heritage Volhynia Polesie. Area - 20 104 ha. is a typical plot of Polesie, located on two rivers and Ubort Svidovka. Its surface - is an alternation of relatively high sand ridges, dunes and trees with slides engaged sphagnum bogs. The natural integrity of the reserve violate sections where more than 50 years ago made deforestation, land reclamation and deep ditches (length of about 7 km), dug in the boom times drainage amelioration in Ukraine. The main tree species are pine, birch and alder. A quarter of the reserve - bogs and swampy forests. Here grow 604 species of vascular plants, 139 species of mosses, lichens scores, fungi and algae. Among the many rare plant species is considered the most valuable type of rhododendron or azalea broom. This ancient herb, which is known since the days of pre-Ice Age. Polesskie forests are rich in berries and mushrooms. Local residents collect mushrooms, chanterelle mushrooms and, as well as blueberries, cranberries, raspberries, strawberries, blackberries and, of course, the queen of wetlands - the cranberries. In the forests inhabited by elk reserve, roe deer, wild boars, wolves, lynxes, foxes, martens, otters, rabbits and squirrels.
