Kovel Historical Museum is a cultural, educational and research institution of the city. Founded and transferred to the Kovel City Department of Culture in February 1992. Currently, the museum has 5,787 exhibits, including 495 ethnographic items, 175 samples of fine arts, a number of objects of natural and historical nature. The museum houses a geological collection of rocks, beginning with the Precambrian, there are remains of bones of ancient animals, an interesting herbarium. Here are preserved ethnographic exhibits and material from the XI century: jewelry, pen, weapons (XI century and late XIV century.), Cossack things, working blacksmith's bellows and anvil (late XIX century.), Blacksmith mechanism XX century.), Etc. Some of the exhibits were donated by residents of Kovel. In particular, it is a piano of the Kyiv factory "A. Stpobl" (late XIX century), a mirror (early XX century), a watch (late XIX century), silver and copper kitchen utensils, weapons of 1812, the First and Second World Wars, large numismatic collection of the early XIX century. The museum keeps old prints of a religious nature: the Bible of the early XIX century (in French), the Gospels of the late XVIII century, the Holy Scriptures and the Psalter of the early XX century, church periodicals of 1924-1938. The pride of the museum collection is a collection of photographs of famous Kovel photo salons: A. Epstein, Tsygelman, Levin, Terrera, Kovalchuk, Sosny and others. (end of the XIX century - 1939).
