Селище Згурівка

Name: Zgurivka Village Status: A village in Brovary district, Kyiv region. Location: 110 km from the regional center of Kyiv. Population: 6587 Area: 1152.9 ha Reservoirs: Supoi river Year of foundation: 1690 Historical reference: There are two versions of the origin of the village. The first version. The village of Zgurovka was founded by the nobleman Zgura in 1690. The second version. Russian Tsar Peter I granted Zgurivka, among other lands, to K. Yaskovsky, a Basan centurion of the Pereyaslav regiment. The village grew out of the estates received by Timofey (Zgura), a diplomat from the Hetman of Ukraine, Ivan Mazepa. Since 1762, Zgurivka belonged to the Hetman of the Left Bank of Ukraine, Kyril Razumovsky. For the first time, the village was mentioned in a deed of Peter the Great. In 1837, the Kyiv vice-governor, active state councilor A.V. Kochubey founded a park around his palace. A Swiss gardener played one of the main roles in the creation of the park. Now the park, which is considered one of the largest in Ukraine (309 hectares), is the main decoration of Zgurivka. Despite some neglect, there is much to see in it: ancient trees, large ponds, an island with a round house. In 1955, it became part of the Kyiv region. Sights: Zgurivsky Park.
