This is confirmed by the remains of the settlement, found on stream Lipovka, where archeologists found the remains of a Neolithic (about 4-3 thousand BC), the period of Tripoli culture. The first mention of Khotianivka dates the year 1704 and on the origin of the name there are several legends. One legend says that in the family of the first settlers were two daughters. Parents invented them names - Khotja and Nyvky. On behalf of the girls names came the name - Khotianivka. According to another legend, the name comes from fisherman Khotyn, who settled on the river Desna. The main craft of the first settlers of this area was pottery, so they tried to settle near water.Such a place was found in a meadow near the lake Pidhatnoho. Nearby the Desna, in Mezhyhirya are deposits of clay. And flood every spring filled lake Pidhatnye and flood villages.Then the community decided to move to the hills, that is in place, where today is located Hotjanovka village. Later settlers lost their job due to the lack of clay. But they gained a new craft - wicker weaving, which is thriving to this day. Currently in Khotianivka work grocery, household and building stores, petrol stations, schools, post office, library work and home culture. Famous person from of the villageis Kuzma Grishchenko (Ole Zhurba) - a poet and a true companion and a hero of the Ukraine.
